Plans to award best Sakaja Super Cup afoot as competition gathers momentum- Tournament director Osman assures

The Sakaja Super Cup Football Tournament will have a special award category of the best fan base in a move that is aimed at promoting unity ands shun acts of hooliganism.
According to the tournament director Osman Khalif, organisers of the tournament have already identified 15 teams who have the best fans in terms of their support to their teams as well as discipline and passion and they are in the process of whiting them down to the final tree who will walk away with money prizes.
While launching the tournament, Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja promised that the best fan base would walk away with prize money with teams with the most decorated and organised fan bases getting 300,000 shillings for the winners, 200,000 for the second placed and 100,000 shillings for the third placed fan bases.
“Competition has been so far a success and has gathered momentum. This is the best and biggest tournament that has ever been witnessed in the history of Nairobi and fans have turned up in good numbers. The Governor Johnson Sakaja promised to award the best fan bases so i want to encourage them to continue travelling with their teams and support them,” Osman said.
Osman said that in the next editions, the tournament will include youth teams from under 15 and under 17 teams as well as a veterans category.
He said that plans are afoot to also expand to other sports disciplines like basketball and athletics.
He thanked the Football Kenya Federation for offering support to the tournament. Osman said that the support from all quarters was key to the success of the tournament noting that the finals set to be played on 16 th November will be a day to remember. He called on fans to turn up in large numbers and support the finalists regardless of whether their teams have been bundled out saying that this being the biggest tournament was testament that sports is a unifying factor for the people of Nairobi.
