Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has today, Wednesday 28 August, 2024, launched new playing kits for the national team Harambee Stars and Harambee Starlets in a move that stirred an online social media buzz as Kenyan took to the online spaces to praise the new kits.

Trending on X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram, Kenyans have taken to social media to praise the launch of the new kits which will be donned by the national men’s and women’s teams in international duty.

The launch that was done online featured the red, white and green jerseys and went on to create a buzz on social media as FKF moved to launch the kits in readiness for the National teams’ upcoming international matches. The launch was done on a day when FKF presidential aspirant Hussein Mohammed officially launched his bid of the FKF top job. However, fans across the social spaces online chose to celebrate the launch of the beautiful kits as opposed to the political rhetoric that is likely to emanate from the political bid.

FKF President Nick Mwendwa has said that the Federation, despite being at an electoral period, will continue with operations to keep the development of football on an upward trajectory.

“Football must continue and with our national teams getting ready for international duty, and the premier league season having kicked off last weekend, I urge everyone of us to support all processes concurrently. Football should not stop because we have upcoming elections. To my competitors, let us sell our agenda and face off fairly with respect because football is for all of us,” Mwendwa said during the SGM last Saturday.

“Rate it a 7 out of 10 maybe could have added some star shapes on the left shoulder coming to the chest downwards,” said Jacob Black, a user on X platform.

“The excitement is real as Kenya prepares for upcoming matches in Kampala. And now, with the new Harambee Stars kit, every fan can show their pride. Let’s get behind our team like never before,” added another user Jomba Kababaa on X.

“The new Harambee Stars Kit arrives just in time for fans to gear up for the Kampala matches. Show your passion for Kenyan football by getting your jersey starting tomorrow. The new Harambee Stars jerseys are not just about style, they represent Kenya’s spirit,” another social Media user on Facebook named Mumbi wrote.

With Kenya set to play their Africa Cup of Nations qualification · Group stage first match against Zimbabwe in Kampala on 6th September, 2024 and another match against Namibia on 10th September, 2024, fans can now buy their new Harambee stars jerseys as they move to support the national team.

The launch was done as FKF, which only held their Special General Meeting last Saturday and passed its electoral board members and electoral code, moved away from the political intrigues into working to ensure that the national teams continue to produce positive results on the pitch.
