Sakaja Super Cup knock out stages culminate as women’s tournament is introduced

The Sakaja Super Cup Football Tournament has entered into crunch stages in December with sub county knock out matches being played across Nairobi county.

Organisers of the tournament, Sakaja Foundation and Football Kenya Federation have , as part of their commitment to prioritize women’s teams in the Sakaja Super Cup introduced a women’s tournament at the inter sub-county level.

Two teams from each sub-county have been provided with high-quality uniforms for the tournament, which they will also use in other leagues and tournaments as the organisers of the inaugural tournament underscore their resolve to remain dedicated to promoting sports and providing equal opportunities for all.

The #SakajaSuperCup ladies tournament kicked off on Saturday December 2nd, 2023 across several grounds in Nairobi as girls squire it out for a chance to win the coveted trophy.

At Kayole Calvary grounds Dandora
Dadastar emerged victorious after edging out Tena United by 3goals to nil.
Edna Wangare opened the scoring for Dadastar in the 19th minute before
Mary Akinyi added a second in the half hour mark,
Carolyne Syombua drove the last nail on Tena United with a third goal in the 47th minute.

At the same venue, Kinyago Starlets and women premier league side Makolanders played out a goal less draw before heading to post match penalty shootout which was won by Makolanders converting three spotkicks as Kinyago missed all their chances for a 3-0 score.

Bright Future edged out Kayole Starlets 2-0 courtesy of a goals from Natalie Bridgit who found the back of the net in the 25th minute and Emily Ndini in the 64th minute.

The match pitting Mukuru Talent and Soweto Queens failed to take place after the away team Soweto Queens failed to honor the match.

Their neighbours Soweto Starlets got an easy ride after their match against Kahawa Pride Lionesses
failed to be played due to the failure of the away team, Kahawa Pride Lionesses to produce player documents within their match time (12-2pm).

Ruai Starlet beat Moreno FC 1-0 with Margaret’s 18th minute goal making the difference.

In the men’s second leg knock out tournament played on Sunday 3rd December,
thle first match of the day at Landimawe ground saw Fifa Best loose 0-1 to B13 which won on an aggregate 3-4.

In the second match Riruta 105 settled to a 1-1 draw with Asec Huruma who sailed through on a 3-1 aggregate.
Clasic FC defeated Kibagare slums by two goals to nil to wrap it up on a 21 aggregate score. Leeds United secured a 5-1 aggregate score against Comrades FC after winning 4-1 in their second leg match.

Comrades scored through Vincent Nzomo in the 18th minute as
Leads United goals were courtesy of Emmanuel Erupe who scored a brace in the 24th and 54 minutes, Jacob Okoth in the 29th minute and Richard Warunga who scored in the 59th minute.

At Babadogo grounds, Mowlem United won 1-0 against Michezo Halisi Kenya while Mukuru Combine beat Bongonaya 2-1 before they were separated by 7-6 on penalties.

Creative Hands won 3-0 over UEFA Despanol as Pumwani Sports Club were 1-0 winners over Eastleigh South United in another match that was decided on penalties with Pumwani emerging victorious in a score of 6-5.
Bold teams have qualified to the next round.

In results at Calvary ground, Victors Faith won 2-1 over Real Soweto Hope while Mofire lost 0-1 at the hands of Lucky Summer. In another match played at Githurai pandpieri grounds, Bromlyn settled in a 1-1draw with Dandora hunters heading the match into penalty shootout. Dandora Hunters won 5-4.
Mwiki United lost 1-2 to Clever FC 2 but scraped through on a 3-2 aggregate score.

Pac university defeated Makadara 2- 1 to mark an aggregate score of 3-1.

In more women knock out matches, Kibera Starlet drew 0-0 with Langa’ta Queens before Kibera won 4-2 on penalties.

Slumscores and Royal Queens settled in a 1-1 draw with the Slumscores winning the penalty shootout 5-4.

Dagoretti Mix thumped Uweza Women
6-1 as TUK Ravens settled in goalless draw with NYS.
Tuk Ravens won 3-2 on post match penalties.
