Top Engineer James Mwitari Is Changing The World Through Engineering

Eng James Mwitari, a Registered Consulting Engineer is not new in the Engineering sector.

With 33 years of experience, having graduated with a degree from UON and a Masters degree from Jkuat,Eng.Mwitari has been engaged in numerous engineering projects in various capacities including as a design Engineer, materials engineer, resident Engineer and Senior Resident Engineer.

We caught up with him at the Bomas of Kenya where he was attending a Roads Design Manual and Standard specifications for road and bridge review and updating workshop where he was representing IEK. The Workshop was organised by The ministry of Roads and Transport State Department for Roads.

Speeking on his own behalf ,he stated that his main goal at the workshop was to ensure that IEK the was better and ably represented in workshop. At a personal level he was interested in enriching his knowledge on new developments in the Road sector.
He indicated that he was very passionate with Road Construction Materials and Road structures including Bridges. He stated that he is happy to make contributions for the improvement of the mannuals and standards.
He observed that though engineering is a career that places bread on his table, he also looks at it as a God given avenue to serve humanity through his participation in improvement of mobility, opening up areas for improved and enhanced economic activities and making it easier for masses to assess diverse produce markets. He has participated in mentoring young engineers and feels good about it.

He added the workshop has come at the right time noting the country is focussed towards the achievement of vision 2030 and the enhanced road manuals will promote and accelerate the achievement of the vision goals. He noted Engineering is a calling that requires harnessing of scarce resources for the benefit of humankind. and he notes that with emerging new technologies, Engineers have to keep updating and improving their and updating their knowledge and skills for better participation in improved infrastructure.”

He thanked the organizers of the workshop for a job well done.
