MultiChoice hosted the screening of Kenya’s First Sci-Fi series, Subterranea, yesterday at the MultiChoice Kenya offices.
Following eight participants trapped in an underground bunker, Subterranea explores themes like family, mental health, and less commonly discussed topics such as male postpartum depression and PTSD. The series is directed by the award-winning Likarion Wainaina, known for his work on Super Modo.
The launch event was graced by the talented cast and crew, including the director Likarion Wainaina, head writer Brian Munene, and the actors Foi Wambui, Melvin Alusa, Philippa Ndisi-Herrman, Makena Kahuha, Biko Nyongesa, Pauline Komu, and Chintu Chudasama.
Speaking during the launch event, MultiChoice Kenya Managing Director, Nzola Miranda, said:
“Subterranea is a testament to our commitment to bringing you fresh, innovative content that stands at the intersection of art and technology. We have spared no effort in ensuring that every aspect of the show, from its intricate storylines to its production values, meets the highest standards of excellence.”
Nzola added, “We are continuously pushing the boundaries of storytelling, venturing into spaces never explored on Showmax. Our goal with this new show is to create a viewing experience that transcends traditional boundaries. We want people to be more than just spectators; we want them to be active participants in this thrilling journey.”
