The chairman of the Kumi Bila Break movement Edwin Kuria has lauded the economic empowerment drive that was conducted by President William Ruto at a mega event held at State House Nairobi today, Saturday, 9 August, 2024.
Over 15,000 Nairobi residents of Nairobi, mainly youths were hosted to State House where President William Ruto hosted them to an empowerment drive similar to the outreach programs which have been going round the country under the leadership of Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, Ruto’s personal assistant Farouk Kibet and a host of other Kenya Kwanza-allied politicians aimed at traversing the country with monies to empower small-scale entreprises.
Kuria praised the President’s initiative noting that today’s gesture was testament that the President cares for the small scale traders and every hustle matters stating that the initiative will transform into real development at the lowest level.
Among the equipment which President Ruto donated to the thousands of youth and women groups included assorted income generating equipment like motorbikes, water tanks, sewing machines, gaming computers, kitchenware, and poshomills, among others to aid them in business startups.
According to Kuria, such equipment will translate into direct employment opportunities for many youths who will now start up income generating enterprises instead of idling in the estates and being used by rogue politicians as goons.
“Today I am very happy that our youths are well empowered. This is real transformation. A young man who would loiter around the estates asking for little handouts now has a motorbike with which he can do a profitable bodaboda business. The same applies to women who can now open their small salons and earn a living for their young families. It is a real game changer,” Kuria said.
During the historical visit to State House, President Ruto was accompanied by Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja and 12 current seating Members of Parliament from among them Nominated Senators Karen Nyamu, Beatrice Mutinda, Nairobi Woman representative Esther Passaris as well as 78 Elected Nairobi Members of the County Assembly (MCA’s) and 21 Nominated Nairobi MCA’s.
The over 15,000 beneficiaries included Nairobi residents from all communities in the city a move that Kuria has lauded noting that the President ensured that no communities were left behind.

“The President has empowered people of Nairobi without ethnic bias. All communities were included and actually, people who come from the Mount Kenya region were the majority. This tell you that the President is serving every Kenya equally and those peddling ethnic divisions will fail miserably,” he said.
Speaking on the Ruto re-election debate, Kuria noted that even the members of parliament who were in the one term team are now proponents two term. Having 12 out of 17 Nairobi Members of Parliament and over 100 MCAs is a clear indication that even the critics of the current administration have come to the realization that President Ruto’s transformative agenda transcend all ethnic boundaries and by 2027, over 80 percent of Kenyans will all be in support of the government.
Kumi Bila Break movement is a group that supports the government under the leadership of President William Ruto. Kuria says that the movement stands for a united Kenya. A Kenya where ethnicity is a point of pride, not a political weapon. A Kenya where leadership is defined by vision, integrity, and service to all. Kuria has been a sharp critic of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua over his tribal campaigns which have threatened to isolate the Mount Kenya region from the rest of the country.
