Wiper Party Leader Dr. Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka received a major political boost on Thursday after a senior Mt. Kenya leader publicly endorsed his 2027 presidential bid.
Speaking during a funeral service in Kathiani Constituency, Nyandarua Senator John Methu declared that Mt. Kenya was “solidly behind Kalonzo” and ready to rally behind him as the next President of the Republic of Kenya.
“The mountain is not divided on this. We believe in Kalonzo’s leadership, his experience, and his commitment to uniting the country,” said Senator Methu, a top figure in Rigathi Gachagua’s DCP Party.
The funeral was held in honor of Juliana Mumbua Mutevu, sister to Machakos MCA Anastascia Nundu.
The event drew key leaders from across the region, including Machakos Woman Representative Joyce Kamene, Kajiado North MP, and Machakos Deputy Governor Francis Mwangangi.
National Assembly Deputy Minority Leader Hon. Robert Mbui used the platform to address what he termed as misinformation aimed at derailing Kalonzo’s growing momentum.
“You’ve heard our Party Leader say ‘Wantam is not just a reality, it’s an eventuality,’” Mbui told mourners. “This fake news about him being appointed as a special envoy to Ivory Coast is a distraction. Kalonzo is not seeking appointments—he’s seeking the presidency.”
Deputy Governor Mwangangi, who read Dr. Musyoka’s condolence message, also relayed the Wiper leader’s appreciation to MPs and political allies standing firm within the United Opposition.
“You’ve demonstrated the true meaning of a United Patriotic Front,” the message read. “Your commitment and unity are what will carry this country forward.”
The Kathiani event quickly transformed into a show of political solidarity as Wiper leaders and allies reiterated their support for Kalonzo’s candidacy in 2027, painting him as a symbol of stability, unity, and national healing.
