Former FKF Technical Director Michael Amenga has been appointed among the experts selected by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to serve on the Technical Study Group (TSG) for the CHAN 2024 tournament, jointly hosted by Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda.
The carefully selected group of technical experts will play a vital role in assessing tactical trends, emerging talent, and coaching developments during the month-long competition.
Amenga who was FKF’s technical director until recently has been serving in the powerful CAF Technical and Development Committee of the African governing body.
CAF announced the full list of experts late Saturday, August 2, 2025. The technical expert who is one of Kenya’s most experienced technical minds, will be stationed at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, where he will work alongside Senegal’s Pape Bouna Thiaw, the CHAN 2022-winning coach who has been appointed the overall leader the entire TSG.
The CAF Technical Study Group is tasked with analysing tactical systems, monitoring emerging talent, and documenting coaching trends across all tournament venues.
Their work will inform future coaching strategies, support talent development, and enhance technical knowledge across the continent.
The group includes highly respected coaches, former internationals, and instructors such as Mohamed Magassouba (Mali), Kamel Kolsi (Tunisia), Walter Steenbok (South Africa), and Mark Fish (South Africa), among others, each assigned to a specific venue across the host nations.
CAF confirmed that the TSG will produce comprehensive technical reports supported by video analysis and advanced performance statistics.
